Halo fans might recall the special sets of armor in Halo 3 that were only unlockable by completing various in-game tasks. According to reports from community-run Halo site Halo.Bungie.org, this week's title update for Halo 3 may have had some unforeseen side effects when it comes to obtaining those elusive pieces of gear.
Specifically, the Security and Katana armor sets were originally triggered by earning a Halo 3 gamerscore of 1000 points -- previously only possible by getting all 49 of the game's achievements. Despite the addition of 30 new achievements this week, that prerequisite remains unchanged -- providing players with tons of fresh options for reaching that goal. Apparently the only other caveat is that you must also have collected at least 49 total achievements.
Whether this was Bungie's intent or just an overlooked glitch, it should be much easier for more casual Halo players to frag in style. Considering the number of ridiculous exploits people have used to score this loot in the past, it's probably for the best if it's even a little easier to come by.
