After four years of delays, Yamauchi says Gran Turismo on PSP "is moving forward."
Think way back to May 11, 2004 -- the day of Sony's E3 2004 press conference, where they first announced the PSP. You may recall they also announced Gran Turismo 4 Mobile, a complete port of the PlayStation 2 game for the PSP that, after years of delays, has still yet to materialize. But according to Gran Turismo mastermind Kazunori Yamauchi, that doesn't mean it's dead yet.
In a video interview with IGN (via Kotaku), Yamauchi was asked about the status of Gran Turismo on PSP, to which he responded with vague yet reassuring statements. "It is moving forward," he said. "It hasn't been knocked off the plans -- it's there." There...where? Yamauchi wouldn't say, as that's as much detail as he gave.
At this point, we have to wonder if a Gran Turismo game on PSP would still even be based on Gran Turismo 4 -- or if it is, whether it would have "Gran Turismo 4" in the title. That game is four years old at this point, so we wouldn't be surprised if Sony gave it a fresher branding, whenever Gran Turismo does finally ship for the PSP.
